AUA TRDP Supported Sewing Workshop in Gandza village, Javakhk

On October 20, TRDP celebrated the official opening of Mrs. Tsonara Tangamyan’s newly established sewing workshop with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Many guests from the surrounding villages and communities, the TRDP chair, Dr. Haroutune Armenian, the TRDP staff and others participated in the opening ceremony.

Mrs. Tangamyan’s business is in high demand since she is the only one in the village who does sewing and tailoring. The newly opened sewing workshop is equipped with  modern embroidery machines, facilities and essential equipment that will allow it to diversify production and enter larger markets in the future.

In her speech, Mrs. Tangamyan expressed her appreciation of AUA TRDP since only with its support – both in obtaining business management knowledge and skills and financial  assistance – was she able to realize her dream of becoming a knowledgeable and competent business woman.

The American University of Armenia’s Turpanjian Rural Development Program (“AUA TRDP”) has operated in Javakhq since 2010 and offers its beneficiaries a practical business education and financial assistance by helping entrepreneurs obtain bank loans at a low interest rate. It is committed to making a positive impact not only on economic development, but also on the outlook of rural residents.
